Interior Designer
Primary Function: The Designer develops space plans and designs for commercial building interiors based on client needs. Creates functional and aesthetic designs that help boost productivity, increase sales, attract customers, or enhance a workspace.
Essential Functions:
- Plans the use and layout of client workspaces.
- Researches appropriate product lines to use.
- Develops 2D and/or 3D drawings and renderings.
- Develops specifications, cost estimates and procures installation quotes.
- Selects finishes and assists in preparing presentations as needed.
- Double checks all projects for accuracy.
- Prepares installation documents.
- Completes punch list if necessary.
- Accurately records all billable and non-billable time.
- Frequent direct client contact; daily interaction with sales team.
- Also works with operations, project coordinators and installers.
- Support the sales team by utilizing these tools: DDMS, Lynx, Project Spec, Solutions Central, TriMega Purchasing Association, My Resource Library (MRL), vendor sites
Additional Responsibilities
- Works as part of a team of designers, providing assistance and backup as needed.
- Assists with maintenance of electronic vendor resources, the design library and resource room.
- Continuous learning to stay abreast of current trends and products.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in design and with 2-5 years of experience, preferably in commercial furniture industry.
- Knowledge of commonly used design concepts, practices, procedures and codes within the commercial design field.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, 3D rendering software (SketchUp a plus), specification software and Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer focus.
